About Gastroheal – Center for Digestive Diseases
Hospital Introduction / Brief History
Founded in 1976 as Mahendra Shah Hospital by Dr. Mahendra Shah, the hospital has been a trusted name in ethical and patient-centered surgical care for nearly five decades. In 1985, the hospital relocated to its present location opposite C.P. College, Bhalej Road, Anand, where it began serving patients from Anand and nearby districts with a strong focus on general surgery.
In 2024, the hospital entered a new phase of excellence with the establishment of Gastroheal – a Super-Specialty Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, led by Dr. Prem Shah. Full-time gastroenterology services commenced in February 2025, making Gastroheal the first dedicated surgical gastroenterology center in the Anand–Kheda region. This initiative enables patients to access advanced GI surgical care close to home.
With 25 beds, a High Dependency Unit, modern operation theatre, recovery room, in-house pharmacy, lift access, and wheelchair-friendly facilities, the hospital is well equipped to deliver safe, high-quality surgical care. Gastroheal provides advanced treatment for gastrointestinal cancers and complex liver, pancreas, gallbladder, esophageal, stomach, and colorectal conditions, with a strong emphasis on advanced laparoscopic surgery.
The hospital also offers ICU and Critical Care services under Dr. Bansri Shah, ensuring comprehensive peri-operative and emergency support.
